The GEM solution suite has been configured to meet the different user needs in the data access hierarchy.
The wide base of the data triangle represents the complete database. In terms of the GEM solution, this base of the triangle corresponds to the data available in all data repositories, which have been integrated. This complete dataset is usually assessed by specific project teams (The Doers) which need to perform complex GIS analysis. At this level of data access, comprehensive GIS and database functionalities are required to update and manage the data. This need is fulfilled by GEM Pro. GEM Pro executes as an ArcMap extension and provides the user with the complete set of GIS tools required for high end analysis and queries. GEM Pro featuresThe next level of the data triangle represents the data which is accessed by the Project management (The Users) who do not actually carry out the complex GIS analysis but are interested in accessing the results of the specified queries/analysis. The Project managers are also tasked with laying down various data and access definitions. GEM Lite fulfils the requirement of a light GIS implementation and effectively meets all the GIS functionality requirements of this level. GEM Lite executes using the runtime version of ArcGIS providing the option of a light GIS implementation across a wide GIS client base. GEM Lite featuresThe topmost level of the data triangle represents the data accessed by the higher management (Managers/ Viewers) and the common data users with the prime aim to review the available information or the completed analysis. Usually this level of access requires the information to be accessible from different locations. GEM surf fulfils the requirement for this level through internet enabled GIS data access which is available for reference/viewing 24*7. GEM Surf is the Internet enabled solution developed using ESRI's ArcIMS technology which makes the GIS information accessible through an Internet browser. GEM Surf featuresMulti-level security is incorporated throughout the GEM suite to ensure the data integrity and security. Three levels of security are provided viz, Windows Security, Application Security (with encrypted login) and Database Security |
